Three sessions ago, the college started the process of making students more included in ensuring that their immediate environment is as perfect as possible. This gave birth to the ‘Students Representative Council’, which has been operating on some level since then.
Last session, the management decided to make the students also more included in the prefectship selection process. This was because of the numerous benefits and learning opportunities that all students stand to gain from the entire process. Students then started to contribute to the selection process through an electoral process (guided by the staff).
This year’s school election is set to hold in a couple of weeks’ time, which would, as usual, include presentation of manifestos.
In our attempt to help our students become agents of social change, we strongly believe that the concepts of leadership and followership are very important. A major part of this process is helping the students also learn that *“you don’t necessarily need a title to be a leader”*
After what was a very intriguing campaign period, the elections for this year’s student-leaders finally took place on Wednesday 14th June 2023. Results from the polls were very competitive, with some positions being decided by difference of just one vote.
Only elections for the male posts were however concluded, as the female students are currently undergoing a critical learning process. A new date for the female elections would be announced in due course InshaAllah.
