As-salaam alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

On the 16th of March 2018, four MCI students set out to represent the college in the 2017/2018 Nigeria Spelling Bee competition.

The competition drew a number of schools that all presented their finest ‘Bees’ to secure them a place in the following regional round.

Our four spellers included:

  • AbdurRasheed Maryam Bello
  • Akanni Faridah Oladoyin
  • Lawal Farihat Oreoluwa
  • Liman Layla Mahmud

Out of almost 120 Spellers in the state competition, only 18 Spellers were selected for the regional competition coming up in a few months. Alhamdulillah two of our Spellers, AbdurRasheed Maryam and Liman Layla are amongst the ‘Bees’ that made it to the next round. We are however certainly proud of all our representatives, as they put up a laudable performance during the competition.

Our Spellers (together with other qualifiers) will compete alongside other great Spellers from South-West states such as Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun and Ogun States.

They will have a chance to prove this spelling prowess and make it to the National Finals where they can win up to One Million Naira Scholarship Grand Prize and also represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee which will take place in Mombasa Kenya this year, In shaa Allah.

May Allah continue to guide us aright, ameen.
