🚌 Medmina Goes Exploring: Abeokuta Educational Trip 2025

Posted on June 30, 2025 | By Medmina College

From the heart of Ibadan to the rocky landscapes of Ogun State, our senior students (SSS1 & 2) embarked on a transformative 3-day educational excursion to Abeokuta in the final days of June 2025. This annual trip forms a vital part of Medmina College’s commitment to experiential learning and cultural exposure—a beautiful fusion of history, creativity, leadership, and fun!

The adventure was packed with inspiring tours, hands-on activities, and immersive learning at key historical and cultural landmarks. Every moment was a discovery, every stop a classroom.

Here are some highlights from the journey:

  • 🏛️ Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) — students explored the archives, museum exhibitions, and history-rich halls of this national monument, gaining deep insights into Nigeria’s political journey and leadership dynamics.
  • 🌊 OOPL Dam — a fascinating tour of sustainable water management and the environmental impact of reservoir systems.
  • ⛰️ Olumo Rock — a physical and symbolic climb through the historic caves and pathways of this iconic rock formation. Our students learned the history of the Egba people while enjoying breathtaking views of the city.
  • 🎨 Adire Market Tour & Workshop — students not only witnessed the magic of adire-making but got to practically witness the dyeing, designing, and creation of fabric pieces under the guidance of skilled artisans.
  • 🎓 Other cultural and learning-focused stops that broadened students’ appreciation for tradition, innovation, and nationhood.

This wasn’t just a trip—it was an experience. The blend of practical history, artistic creativity, environmental science, and leadership exposure brought classroom lessons to life in unforgettable ways.

“It was the best school trip I’ve ever been on! I got to climb a big rock, witness the design of adire, and learn about our presidents—all in one trip!” — Student Reflection

At Medmina College, we believe that the world is our classroom. Trips like this prepare our students to think critically, collaborate, and appreciate the rich diversity of our country and culture. 🧭✨
